                                                               Free  Spirited White Dogs

We had some snow now and then here in Jeju from last night.  If Lulu did not ask for her regular strolling, I would not go out in this cold weather.  Seeing her little paw prints on the shallow covered snow warmed my heart.  It reminded me of the white dogs I saw at the beach at UDO in the Summer.  They were freely walking the beach by themselves.  Some were well blended among people on the trail and no one chased them away.  I thought that was a beautiful sight to see a perfect harmony between people, dogs, and the ocean.  What a coincidence the music of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, 2nd Movement were playing on a classical music station I put on TV while I was painting this.  Because this was the exact music the bus tour guide played on a very good audio system in the bus by the seaside so that he could impress his tourist more with the already dramatic view of the ocean.  It was like a dream reminiscing the dramatic experience that I had.  The scenery of the freely roaming ghostly white dogs by the churning blue oceans in the background music of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto was very nostalgic.  I was happy for those freely roaming dogs.

이곳 제주에서는 어제 밤부터 눈이 오락가락 했다.  루루가 산책을 보채지 않았다면 이 추운 날씨에 나가지 않았을 것이다.  가볍게 덮힌 눈위에 찍힌 루루의 쬐그만 네발자국이 나의 마음을 따스하게 했다.  그것은 여름에 우도 바다가에서 봤던 하얀개들을 떠오르게 했다.  그 하얀개들은 자유롭게 해변을 제맘대로 걷고 있었다.  어떤개들은 소로길에 사람들틈에 잘 어울렸고 어떤 사람도 그 개들을 내쫒지 않았다.  나는 사람과 개와 바다의 완전한 조화로움이 정말 아름답다고 생각했다.  이 그림을 그릴때 tv의 클래식 음악채널에서 흘러나오던 모짜르트의 클라리넷 콘체르토 2악장은 참으로 기이한 우연이었다.  왜냐면 그 바다가에서 투어버스 안내원이 이미 기가막힌 바다의 풍경에 자신의 여행객들에게 더 드라마틱한 경험을 선사하려  좋은 오디오 시스템을 통해 바로 이 음악을 틀어놓았던 것이다.   그때의 그 감동적이었던 경험을 회상하는것이 꿈 같다.
이 모든것들이...모짜르트의 클라니넷 콘체르토 음악이 깔리고 철석이는 푸른 바다를 배경으로 마치 유령같은 하얀 개들이 자유롭게 떠도는 풍경은 얼마나 향수를 불러일으키는지.
나는 자유롭게 돌아다는 개들때문에 행복했다.
